Behind the Orange Curtain
Saturday, July 31st, 2004Work here at The Collective is going well. We are finishing up 2 demo levels for the official press release in Cabo San Lucas in the first week on August. We had an interview with Game Informer magazine earlier in the month and they showed off my demo level. The interviewer was very impressed with our tek, and thought the game was very original, and was going to indeed be a ground breaking product. This Atari/Collective/Ecko collaboration has been a long time in the making, and I am very proud to be working on this title. It is due out in May of 2005 for both Playstation2 and Xbox, but I will keep people informed when it becomes official. I may have some links to news and screenshots….heck maybe even a demo if that becomes available.
In other news, I have given up all my work on Urban Terror. That means that I wont even be doing anything for the Urban Terror version on the Enemy Territory engine. I know that this will disappoint a lot of people looking forward to seeing ut_airport, and all the other levels I was slated to finish for that mod. But it seems that my paying job keeps me so busy that I really don’t have a lot of spare time to dedicate to developing for Urban Terror. All I can say is I’m sorry to all of you that were really looking forward to it, and I wish all the best to Silicon Ice Development, and any future games they design. They were a great bunch of guys that I really liked working with.
Southern California is really starting to grow on me again. I did miss it a little when I lived in Salt Lake City, but It strangely feels like home. I do however miss all the friends and those that I left behind in Salt Lake. Acclimating has been tough with me working all the hours that I work, but to be honest, I do love it.
A friend sent me a blast from the past this week. Mostly pictures, letters, and keepsakes. I will try and post some of the pictures here so you can laugh at how goofy I looked once upon a time. Stay tuned, its good for a laugh.
