Adios Smartbomb Hello EA

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Well, I have been a very bad blogger. I usually am good about keeping people informed, but that is really hard to do when you dont have internet access. So, lets recap. I have left Smartbomb Interactive. This decision was due to a lot of factors, most of which was that I was really unhappy with a lot of things there. My gut feeling tells me that the company may close yet again because of a lot of business and creative miscues.

My friend Rudy told me that I should shoot my resume to Electronic Arts in Los Angeles where he just got a new job, so I did. I went to Los Angeles for an interview on the 28th of June. I got an offer from EA on July the 10th, and accepted the offer and told them that I would be available to start on July 17th. So that basically means that I gave Smartbomb Interactive only one week of notice that I would be leaving. There was some hurt feelings I think by some at Smartbomb about my leaving, but to be honest there wasnt much keeping me there. I was done with the Design of Snoopy, and it was about to go alpha shortly after my leaving. I have to admit that I will miss the Producer on the project, Joe Black. Joe and I used to leave the insanity of Smartbomb every day at lunch to sneak in 9 holes, and I have to say….if it wasnt for that, I may have quit the job much earlier.

Rudy and I got an apartment together right by the marina in Marina Del Rey and we will be moving in on the 4th of August. Rudy and I get along really well so I think it will be a lot of fun to have a roomate again.

The one sad thing is that I had to leave my girlfriend in Salt Lake City behind, but sometimes when you chose a career like this that there are certain things you just have to do.
