Getting Settled In Marina
Saturday, September 2nd, 2006Forgive me blogger, Its been a month since my last post…lol Ok, lets play catch-up? Im all moved into the new pad. its really nice, I have to admit. Its Marina Del Rey….come on people, it doesnt get much better then that. Im totally in love with the area. I was a little worried about moving back here. Lets face it, its just been rated the least affordable housing market in the whole country, and this particular area is really small and Im sure is pretty high if not the highest on the least affordable list. So just finding a place in this Zip code thats affordable is pure luck. Im about 4 blocks from work, and I have to admit….thats probably the best commute I have had, ever.
The work front is going ok, but Im starting to find it just like every other game company I have ever worked for. The ego’s are big, and since this is a team of all star players, the Egos are bigger. I have done really good about throwing my weight around, I have tried to compromise where possible and try and be pretty respectful with those that deserve it. As usual the artists are my biggest roadblocks to creating an amazing experiance. And again, I have found a programmer that I find to be amazing. Like Colin and Kurt amazing, and he is really open and excited to giving me the tools I need to do what I need to do. His name is Anthony Ku, and he is really a nice guy, and easy to get along with.
lol, hmm, Urban Terror stuff is coming along slowly. The technical stuff and limitations are killing me. I think that we really need to ditch this tech. Its so limiting. I am so over having to use a level design editor and the problems that are associated with brush based level creating. Im not saying the tech I have worked for in my professional life is any better, but at least its not as frustration as far as the content creation pipeline. Im looking forward to a time when we do everything in the 3d package.
