Midway sold for a song?
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008For those that missed it, 87% of Midway was sold by Sumner Redstone the Viacom media mogul for $100,000. The buyer also bought $70 million of debt as well. What will this mean for Midways remaining studios and employees? No one is quite sure yet.
I have more then a few friends working for Midway and I truly hope the are able to hold on.
I’m sure we will see even more game companies slip farther in the red, and possibly go the way of akklaim and Interplay. Midway and Atari have managed to hold on. With a lot of strong IP’s I think they could leverage them, plus the MK vs DC game looks promising. But time will tell.
