Macbook crotch melter

Friday, January 30th, 2009

For those who do or dont know, my macbook has been in the shop a few times.  I have had some problems with it overheating, and some battery issues.  Dont get me wrong, all that aside it still put out less heat then my HP ZD 7010 17″ bahemouth I used to have.  And its a Mac, need I say more?  They used to call them laptops back during the Pentium 3 days when the processors could virtually run without fans.  But when PPC and P4’s came out and ran so hot that you could melt titanium companies realized that calling them notebooks and not laptops was in their best interest.  Hot Coffee…McDonalds anyone?

Anyway, a friend of mine had her Macbook die on her due to melting of the Motherboard where the Ram is located.   Yes, she had the infamous PPC version, and even with the 3 year applecare, she got hosed at the end when it eventually overheated yet again, and this time for good.

And we all know about the woes of Xbox360’s and thier PPC processors running hot enough to melt the sun.  No coincidence that Apple went to the cooler running core2 duo for its next round of machines right?  Anyway I saw this at Penny Arcade (I love these guys) and just had to share it with everyone.

Im dreaming of a brown Christmas

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

I took from the 19th of December to the 2nd of January off because I really needed some time off.  A lot of things have happened in both personal and work life that have been very stressful and trying.  I just needed some time to myself to make some decisions on what I am going to be doing with the rest of my life both work and personal from here on in.  I picked up Austin and my sister in Pomona later in the day on Christmas eve and we made our way to Buckeye Arizona to spend time with my brother, his family and my mom.

Irene had to work till like 10pm so Austin and I had some time to kill before picking her up.  So we walked around the mall and just hung out.  After picking up Irene and her daughter Zion we made our way to Damon’s place.  We got there pretty late and after a short nap, we decided to wake the kids and open presents.

It was a pretty good christmas, I think everyone was pretty happy.  I was able to get a new 24″ iMac to play the World of Warcraft that Damon got me.  I couldn’t wait to get it home and play it.  We all had a great visit, minus Kallie and her brood.  I am starting to realize in my old age that these times are important as they wont last forever and you have to take advantage of them whilst you can.
