Moving boxes around

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Things here at Xaviant are going pretty good.  We are basically in the R&D stages of development.  We really don’t have much yet but we are working on getting the tools and processes down so that we can start hammering down on production soon.  I think one of the big things that we really are trying to get right is our pathing and AI tools and process.  We are currently looking at a few differing middle-ware options.

The iPhone game is moving at an absolute crawl.  I really didn’t do much on it this weekend.  I’m starting to think that maybe I might be at somewhat of a standstill for now until I can get something from Tom.  Vihn says he may help out here are there, but I don’t hold out much hope on that front.  I can do all the artwork for the game myself if I really have to, but I would rather not if I didn’t have to.  I really need to buckle down and get some of this stuff going, and stop slacking off.  I spent 2 weeks just learning how to make the menus and the controllers for those work.  I dont want to get lost and have to wait another few weeks to get more things working.  I have also been looking into a CVS repository for code, that seems to be going well.  I think I might buy a cheap PC or small mac to run it on.

Time Flies

Well, I think I have been here for a month now and I got to say that Im getting used to the area. I really do like the company and the job. I’m really excited at the possibility of working with a lot of friends from places and games I have worked on in the past like Rudy and Chad. I think that we can bring even more people on board that are talented and that are looking for a new place to call home. I have to say that for the first time in a long time, someone actually gets it. That when you hire someone and trust them, you let them do what it is that they do best, and you get amazing results.

The apartment is nice. Its pretty decent sized. Its not as big as the place that Ray and I were in before I left, but its nice. I do miss the weather a little bit and I have to admit that I miss a lot of my friends and things that are familiar, but over time, that kind of thing usually gets better.  I have been feverishly working on my little project at home since I don’t really have much else to do.  I don’t have any furniture yet, and its kinda boring here at home.  My car is pretty much toast, I need to get it fixed as its been acting really bad lately .  I just don’t have the money yet to get it fixed correctly.

I was thinking of getting a TV, but I know once that happens Im not going to be as productive as I can be.  Rudy moves into his new place next week and Im excited for him.  His balcony overlooks the pool so that should be nice.

Well, not much to say other then that, I have been playing host to guys that have been coming here from San Diego the last three weeks, trying to talk them into moving out here and joining our merry little band.  Hopefully they will realize what a great opportunity we have here to make a great game and build a foundation for something really good for all of us.

Sadly, I am missing all of Austin’s football games.  Im sure it would be nice to sit in the stands and yell HIT HIM!….lol.  But I’ll leave it to his mom this season.  I try and get her to put them all on video so I can see them later.
